Football Recap: Carbondale Terriers vs. Collinsville Kahoks

Carbondale lost against Collinsville back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Terriers were just a hair shy of victory and fell 7-6 to the Kahoks. That's two games in a row now that the Terriers have lost by just one point.

Carbondale's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Davin Wooley, who threw for 219 yards and one TD while picking up 11.0 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards. A healthy portion of Wooley's aerial production (109 yards to be exact) went to Braylon Berry.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Lazarion Steward and Damon Dyer. Steward rushed for 82 yards and one score while Dyer rushed for 52 yards on only five carries. Those 82 rushing yards gave Steward a new career-high.

Carbondale now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Collinsville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Looking ahead, Carbondale will square off against Cahokia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Collinsville, they will challenge Mt. Vernon at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
