Volleyball Game Preview: Oak Lawn Spartans vs. Fenwick Friars

After both having extra time off, the Oak Lawn Spartans and the Fenwick Friars will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Oak Lawn will be strutting in after a win while Fenwick will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, it was close, but Oak Lawn sidestepped Tinley Park for a 2-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won five in a row.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Oak Lawn got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-16.

Oak Lawn found their leader in freshman Danny Casey, who had nine digs and four aces.

Meanwhile, Fenwick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of De La Salle. While the Friars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Meteors 25-17 in the first set.

Fenwick started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-17, 25-18.

Oak Lawn's victory bumped their record up to 23-10. As for Fenwick, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-17.
