Baseball Recap: Mallard Creek Snaps Three-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hopewell, Mallard Creek was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the North Mecklenburg Vikings a 13-0 shutout. With that win, the Mavericks brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

David Victoria and Colin McCartney did most of the damage at the plate: Victoria scored two runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while McCartney scored two runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Mallard Creek is undefeated when McCartney posts two or more runs, but 0-7 otherwise. Stephen Scott also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Mallard Creek always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .515. They are 2-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Mallard Creek's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7. As for North Mecklenburg, they now have a losing record of 5-6.

East Mecklenburg will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Mallard Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
