Baseball Recap: Washington County Has No Trouble Against Bethlehem

While Washington County put up some runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Bethlehem. The Commanders put the hurt on the Eagles/Banshees with a sharp 10-0 win. The Commanders haven't had any issues with the Eagles/Banshees recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Camden Abell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. He also allowed no hits, which is notable because Washington County is 2-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 9-12 otherwise. Abell was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Dylan Mattingly was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Washington County is 2-1 when Mattingly posts one or more home runs, but 9-12 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Gabhart, who earned one RBI and two runs.

Washington County's win bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Bethlehem, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Washington County will head out to take on Taylor County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bethlehem, they will square off against Holy Cross at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles/Banshees' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
