Softball Recap: South Point Red Raiders vs. Hibriten Panthers
South Point and Hibriten squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but South Point had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 7-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Red Raiders of the 18-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2018.
Stella Absher spent all 7.2 innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and four unearned) runs on eight hits.
On the hitting side, Ada Hartge made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cailey Evans, who went 3-for-5 with one run.
South Point's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Hibriten, with the win, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-11.
South Point does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hibriten, they will take on East Lincoln on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
