Volleyball Recap: Desert Oasis Falls Short Against Ranked Silverado

On Thursday, Desert Oasis faced Silverado in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Desert Oasis Diamondbacks fell 3-1 to the Silverado Skyhawks. The Diamondbacks just can't catch a break and have now endured four defeats in a row.

Desert Oasis was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Silverado work for it, especially in the first set. The final score came out to 29-27, 22-25, 25-21, 25-18.

Jacob Wienke paced Desert Oasis' offense, picking up 12 kills. Wienke got some help from Carter Aldridge and his 35 assists. Wienke was also solid from the service line: he led the team with five aces.

Rayden Inong was a one-man wrecking crew for Silverado as he had 24 digs and two assists. With that strong performance, Inong is now averaging an impressive 10.1 digs per game. Hunter Anderson also deserves some recognition as he had his first kill of the season.

Desert Oasis' loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Silverado, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Desert Oasis and Foothill will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. Silverado will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Arbor View at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th.
