Baseball Game Preview: Grove Ridgerunners vs. Locust Grove Pirates

For the second straight game, Grove will face off against Locust Grove. The Ridgerunners will square off against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grove's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Locust Grove's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Monday, Grove got the win against Locust Grove by a conclusive 12-2. The Ridgerunners haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Grove got a great performance from Silas Roberts as he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Roberts a new career-high.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Gavin Wyatt, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Aidan Davis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Locust Grove moved to 10-11 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak. As for Grove, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.
