Basketball Recap: Wagener-Salley Takes a Loss

Wagener-Salley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 59-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the Horse Creek Academy Stallions. The War Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Stallions earlier this season, when they won 68-66.

Horse Creek Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aidan Walls led the charge by putting up 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kingston Hightower, who posted 15 points.

Wagener-Salley's record is now 3-15. As for Horse Creek Academy, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wagener-Salley has already played their next game (against Calhoun County), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Horse Creek Academy will face off against North at 7:30 a.m. on Friday. North knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past ten matchups -- so hopefully Horse Creek Academy likes a good challenge.
