Football Recap: Piedmont Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Piedmont dropped to 2-3 on Friday, ending the team's eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost to the Arroyo Dons at home by a 40-26 margin. The Highlanders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Dons apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2023.

Despite the loss, Piedmont still got an impressive performance from Xavier Henderson, who rushed for 108 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Henderson has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played.

As for Arroyo, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their 13-point performance the matchup before.

Arroyo's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Donald Buckley, who rushed for 73 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Robert Mcgehee was in the mix as well, providing the Dons with two TDs.

Looking ahead, after each having a week off, Piedmont and Hayward will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th. The contest will give the Highlanders their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Arroyo, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 48-6 win against Davis Sr. on the 3rd.
