Basketball Game Preview: Lake Ridge Eagles vs. Allen Eagles

Lake Ridge will square off against Allen at 9:20 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Lake Ridge sitting on six straight victories and Allen on five.

On Wednesday, Lake Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Almeta Crawford, taking the game 65-55.

Lake Ridge can attribute much of their success to Ashton Parker, who shot 69% from the field to rack up 21 points, and Onie Lewis, who went 6-for-14 en route to 16 points and three steals. With that strong performance, Parker is now averaging an impressive 15.6 points per game. Another player making a difference was Roman Dulin, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 12 points.

Meanwhile, you're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter and that's exactly how it played out for Allen on Saturday. They strolled past Central with points to spare, taking the game 62-44. Those 62 points were actually the fewest the Eagles have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Lake Ridge better keep an eye on Nehemiah Lawrence. He was instrumental in Allen's win, going 8-for-13 to rack up 21 points and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Lawrence has scored at least a third of the Eagles' points. Tyson Chandler II was another key player, putting up ten points and six rebounds.

Allen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Allen's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Lake Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.
