Volleyball Recap: Norwell's Undefeated Season over After Three Games

After flying high against Fort Wayne Northrop on Tuesday, Norwell came back down to earth. The Knights fell just short of the Heritage Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Thursday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Knights of the 3-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Norwell wouldn't go down easily and took Heritage into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 21-25, 25-18, 24-26, 25-23, 15-12.

Macie Saalfrank paced Norwell's offense, picking up 26 kills. Saalfrank got some help from Emma Vachon and her 39 assists. Vachon was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Heritage found their leader in freshman Kierstyn Hess, who had 18 digs and two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, Norwell fell to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Norwell will face off against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The Braves will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Heritage has already played their next matchup (against East Noble), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
