Volleyball Recap: Emma Hyde's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Auburn over Douglas County West

After flying high against Plattsmouth last Tuesday, Auburn came back down to earth. The Bulldogs came up short against the Douglas County West Falcon on Monday, falling 3-0. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Falcon: they've now lost six in a row.

Auburn lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Emma Hyde, who had 24 assists and five digs. She is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 18 or more in each of the last nine games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Graycen Jones, who had 15 digs.

Douglas County West was led to victory by Abby Rayer and Ally Cooke. Rayer had 14 digs and five assists, while Cooke had nine digs. Those nine digs gave Cooke a new career-high.

Auburn's loss dropped their record down to 19-13. As for Douglas County West, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.

Auburn does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Douglas County West, they have already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Platteview on the 28th.
