Volleyball Game Preview: Cony Rams vs. Brewer Witches

The Cony Rams will square off against the Brewer Witches at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cony took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Nokomis as they made off with a 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won five in a row.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Cony took every set by at least ten points. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-14, 25-10.

Hampden came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Brewer, but Zoe Drake wouldn't allow it. The Witches skirted past the Broncos 3-2 thanks in part to Drake, who had 17 digs and five aces. Drake is crushing it when it comes to aces: she's served at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

If you add up the scores from across all five sets (100-97) Brewer actually scored fewer points, but in the end it didn't matter. The match finished with set scores of 9-25, 25-16, 26-24, 22-25, 15-10.

Brewer's win came from a few key players Cony will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Molly Lagasse, who had nine digs and one assist.

Brewer was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 13 aces in five consecutive matchups.

Brewer's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Cony, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
