Caroline Porter was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. Those 17 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Seacrest Country Day let Jolie Booth and Dailin 'D' Delgado run wild. Booth went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Delgado got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. Booth has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kami Gray, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Neumann, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Everglades City with a sharp 17-1 victory on Tuesday. The Celtics haven't had any issues with the Gators recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Seacrest Country Day, Neumann also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophia Escobar. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). Escobar was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with three runs.
In other batting news, Jesse Camejo and Brooke Rimes did most of the damage at the plate: Camejo went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Rimes got on base in two of her three plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Brooke Shefsky was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Neumann pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Seacrest Country Day, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.
Seacrest Country Day might still be hurting after the 15-5 defeat they got from Neumann in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Stingrays avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
