Softball Recap: Iroquois West Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Iroquois West won the last time they faced South Newton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Raiders walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Rebels.

Autumn Miller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kyla Dewitt, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Leah Honeycutt, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Iroquois West hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Newton struck out 11 times.

Iroquois West is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-14 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.6 runs over those games. As for South Newton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season.

Iroquois West will square off against Milford at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for South Newton, they will host Frontier at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
