Softball Recap: Greencastle Wins Going Away Against Cloverdale

Greencastle barely beat Cloverdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tiger Cubs put the hurt on the Clovers with a sharp 8-1 victory on Tuesday. The Tiger Cubs haven't had any issues with the Clovers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Ali Hassler made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma West, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Brinley Mullis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Greencastle's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4. As for Cloverdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Greencastle will face off against Cascade at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cadets will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Tiger Cubs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cloverdale, they will square off against Northview at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
