Soccer Game Preview: Hampshire vs. St. Charles East

The Hampshire Whip-Purs are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will face off against the St. Charles East Fighting Saints at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.

Hampshire is leaving town to face St. Charles East after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Whip-Purs lost 6-0 to Boylan Catholic back in March.

Meanwhile, St. Charles East had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 goals) and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Royals a 9-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for St. Charles East, who have now won four games by three goals or more so far this season.

Their offense was hitting Larkin from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Sophia Wollenberg led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for three goals all by herself.

Hampshire suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to St. Charles East in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Whip-Purs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
