Softball Game Preview: Carbondale Terriers vs. Johnston City Indians

The Carbondale Terriers will head out on the road to challenge the Johnston City Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Carbondale is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.

On Tuesday, Carbondale didn't have quite enough to beat Centralia and fell 2-1.

Carbondale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jasmine Martin, who went 1-for-4 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Johnston City might've scored the first runs on Wednesday, but it was Salem who claimed the real prize. The Indians fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 11-9. The Indians have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peyton Smith and Lilli Armes stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases and three runs, while Armes went 3-for-4 with five RBI and one double. Smith is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played. Makenzie Mowery was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.

Carbondale's defeat dropped their record down to 5-8. As for Johnston City, their loss dropped their record down to 8-8.

Carbondale might still be hurting after the 11-0 defeat they got from Johnston City when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Can the Terriers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
