Softball Recap: Walnut Comes Up Short

Walnut was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 8-4 to the Glendora Tartans. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Tartans this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-0 loss back in March.

Cynthia P spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Walnut saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rihanna J, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Walnut's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Glendora, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5 record this season.

Walnut will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Claremont at 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Glendora, they will take on San Fernando in a tournament on Saturday.
