Basketball Recap: Rivercrest Takes a Loss

If Rivercrest was feeling good fresh off their 67-35 takedown of Trumann last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Colts fell 61-51 to the Hoxie Mustangs on Monday. The Colts were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.

Despite the defeat, Rivercrest saw an underclassman step up: freshman Armani Facon posted 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Facon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gabby Harris, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.

Rivercrest's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Hoxie, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-2.

Coming up, Rivercrest will challenge Batesville at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hoxie, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-38 defeat against Corning on the 9th.
