Basketball Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Juanita Ravens
After a string of four wins, the Mercer Island Islanders's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They took a 54-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of Juanita. Mercer Island was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Ravens apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Mercer Island lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Anna Grace marsh, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Grace marsh is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games she's played. Caitlin Monahan was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Mercer Island's loss dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Juanita, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
Mercer Island does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Juanita will square off against the Highlanders at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Hazen focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
