Preview: Millwood Falcons vs. Idabel Warriors
Millwood has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Idabel Warriors at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Millwood has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 183 points over their last four contests.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Millwood had no problem doing just that on Friday. Everything went their way against Purcell as Millwood made off with a 38-14 win. The result was nothing new for Millwood, who have now won seven contests by 23 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, Idabel put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Kansas 42-28. The score was all tied up 21-21 at the break, but Idabel was the (much) better team in the second half.
Matrail Lopez was his usual excellent self, rushing for 172 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, while also picking up 39 receiving yards. Idabel also got a significant boost from Waylon Phillips, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.
Millwood pushed their record up to 11-1 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 43.0 points per game. As for Idabel, their victory bumped their record up to 11-0.
