Volleyball Game Preview: Rockingham County Cougars vs. Northern Guilford Nighthawks

Rockingham County is 0-10 against Northern Guilford since September of 2017 but things could change on Wednesday. The Cougars are packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on the Nighthawks at 6:30 p.m.

Rockingham County is leaving town to face Northern Guilford after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. The Cougars took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern Alamance on Monday. While the Cougars didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Eagles 25-18 in the first set.

Rockingham County started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-8, 25-15, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Northern Guilford had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Northwest Guilford. The victory continues a trend for the Nighthawks in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won eight in a row.

Northern Guilford walked away with the win (and looked especially good in the first set). The final score came out to 25-13, 25-19, 22-25, 25-19.

Rockingham County might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Northern Guilford when the teams last played back in December of 2020. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
