Marathon and Auburndale are an even 5-5 against one another since August of 2019, but not for long. The Red Raiders will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marathon is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.

Marathon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by three) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a set and slipped past Athens 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Red Raiders have posted since September 4th.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Marathon who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-13, 17-25, 15-10.

Meanwhile, Auburndale came up short against Hudson on Saturday and fell 2-0.

While Auburndale ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-18, 25-20.

Auburndale's loss dropped their record down to 18-11. As for Marathon, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Marathon couldn't quite get it done against Auburndale when the teams last played back in October of 2024 as they fell 3-1. Can the Red Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
