Soccer Game Preview: Deerfield Beach vs. Mater Academy Charter

The Deerfield Beach Bucks will face off against the Mater Academy Charter Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Deerfield Beach's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Mater Academy Charter has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Deerfield Beach's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Pompano Beach. Given the Bucks' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 136th, while the Golden Tornadoes are ranked 362nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Mater Academy Charter's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mater Lakes Academy on Thursday.

Deerfield Beach has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 15 goals over those five games. As for Mater Academy Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.

Deerfield Beach was able to grind out a solid win over Mater Academy Charter in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, winning 2-0. Will Deerfield Beach repeat their success, or does Mater Academy Charter have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
