Football Recap: Marble Falls Mustangs vs. Llano Yellowjackets
Marble Falls had lost five straight at home dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it six. They had to suffer through a 50-18 loss at the hands of the Llano Yellowjackets. The Mustangs were down 43-10 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the defeat, Marble Falls had strong showings from Kaden Langbein, who picked up 89 receiving yards and one TD, and Doak Timmerman, who rushed for 44 yards and one score.
Even if they lost, Marble Falls' defensive line still kept up the pressure with 3.5 sacks. Leading the way was Kaleb Bielfeldt with two. Marble Falls got some further help from Clayton Thompson: he made 13 total tackles and defended one pass in addition to snagging an interception.
As for Llano, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 235th, while Marble Falls is ranked 831st) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
A big part of Llano's victory came down to the chemistry between Luke Davis and his top target Cash Lynch. Davis threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes while Lynch picked up 212 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Lynch really caught the secondary sleeping when he pulled down a catch that went for 76 yards. Jose Sillas got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Marble Falls will take on Brackenridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Llano, they will head out to face off against Jarrell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
