Baseball Preview: Grossmont Foothillers vs. El Capitan Vaqueros

The Grossmont Foothillers are taking a road trip to square off against the El Capitan Vaqueros at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grossmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.

Back at the plate, Tyler Holmes was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Barnett, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one run.

Grossmont was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, El Capitan came up short against Granite Hills on Thursday, falling 14-7. The Vaqueros haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Kasen Baker made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Matthew Eckis was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

El Capitan's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15-1. As for Grossmont, their record is now 11-14.
