Volleyball Recap: Washington Comes Up Short

After flying high against Glendale last Tuesday, Washington came back down to earth. The Rams fell 3-1 to the Buckeye Hawks on Thursday.

While Washington ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18.

Ben Marquez paced Washington's offense, picking up five kills. Marquez got some help from Byar Reh and his ten assists. Reh and Marquez didn't slow down when it came to serving: they led the team with three apiece.

Among those leading the charge was Erick Rivera, who had 16 digs. That's the most digs he has posted over his last ten contests.

Washington's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Buckeye, they pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.

Washington has already played their next match, a 3-0 defeat against Independence on the 8th. As for Buckeye, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-1 victory against Desert Edge on the 8th.
