Basketball Recap: Louisa County Skates Past Monticello with Ease

Louisa County posted their biggest win since January 26, 2024 on Tuesday. They really took it to the Monticello Mustangs for the full four quarters, racking up a 65-31 victory. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Mustangs are ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Peyton Brady, who went 9 for 12 en route to 24 points in addition to seven rebounds and six steals. Another player making a difference was Harlee Lowe, who posted 13 points along with five boards and four steals.

Louisa County was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Monticello only posted seven assists.

Monticello's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Layla J, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Stella Snoddy, who earned ten points. With that strong performance, J is now averaging an impressive 8.4 boards per game.

Louisa County's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Monticello, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Louisa County has already played their next contest, a 59-51 victory against Orange County on the 17th. As for Monticello, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 63-45 defeat against Albemarle on the 17th.
