Baseball Recap: St. Pauls Comes Up Short

St. Pauls had lost four straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 7-9 to make it five. They lost 10-2 to the Clinton Dark Horses. The Bulldogs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dark Horses from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

St. Pauls saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaden Parker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles. Parker is becoming a predictor of the Bulldogs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 4-8 when he doesn't).

As for Clinton, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4. Considering they have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Clinton's side, Jaxson Smith made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over six innings pitched. Smith has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Roady Carter, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Tyler Hall was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Clinton beat St. Pauls by a score of 12-9 on Wednesday.
