Softball Recap: Enloe Comes Up Short

After soaring to 17 runs the game before, Enloe was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They came up short against the Wakefield Wolverines, falling 10-2. The Eagles have struggled against the Wolverines recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meetings.

Avery Modlin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and eight unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks.

At the plate, Enloe saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Thompson, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Enloe's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wakefield, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Enloe will take on Cardinal Gibbons at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Cardinal Gibbons is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Wakefield, they will challenge Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Wakefield knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Rolesville likes a good challenge.
