Softball Recap: Jennings County Comes Up Short

Jennings County extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 16-7. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Milan Indians. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Jennings County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Graci Ross, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

As for Milan, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 21-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games.

On Milan's side, Kynadee Bode made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off ten hits. Bode was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emma Voss, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Eaglin, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jennings County will venture away from home to square off against Floyd Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milan, they will head out to face off against South Ripley at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Raiders have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
