Softball Recap: Kennebunk Wins Going Away Against Marshwood

Kennebunk lost to Marshwood back in April of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Rams blew past the Hawks 17-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Rams.

Juliann Pike made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Pike was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Talia Kellum was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Paige Williams, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Kennebunk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .614. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marshwood only posted an OBP of .280.

Kennebunk's record now sits at 2-0. As for Marshwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Kennebunk will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Gorham at 4:30 p.m. Kennebunk's pitchers better be ready for this one: Gorham has averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Marshwood, they are taking a road trip to square off against Falmouth at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
