Basketball Recap: Nederland Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Nederland was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were dealt a 75-29 loss at the hands of the Campion Academy Cougars. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 49-8 to the Cougars when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Nederland lost, don't look at Mason Ivey. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points and five boards. Casey Hambourger was another key player, putting up two points.

Campion Academy found their leader in freshman Jonny Lopez-Morquecho, who earned 17 points and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Harlow, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Nederland's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Looking ahead, Nederland will face off against Gilpin County at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Campion Academy, they will square off against Loveland Protestant Reformed Christian at 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
