Basketball Recap: Holmes Comes Up Short

Holmes was the 78-62 winner over Hertford County when they last played one another last Saturday, but their luck changed this time around. The Holmes Aces fell just short of the Hertford County Bears by a score of 60-57 on Wednesday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (56), the Aces still had to take the loss.

It was another big night for Shimere Garris, who dropped a double-double with 30 points and 14 rebounds for Hertford County. Garris' evening made it six games in a row in which he has scored at least 27 points. Rucker Nixon was another key player, putting up 14 points along with seven boards and three steals.

Holmes' defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-11. As for Hertford County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

Holmes has already played their next match, a 67-59 loss against Northeastern on the 14th. Hertford County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
