Baseball Game Preview: Monett Cubs vs. Clever Blue Jays

The Monett Cubs are taking a road trip to square off against the Clever Blue Jays at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Monett managed to slip by Lamar the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Cubs came up short against the Tigers on Tuesday, falling 14-2. The Cubs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Aidan Clapper made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Monett's success: when he posts at least two stolen bases the team is 2-1 (and 7-10 when he doesn't).

Meanwhile, Clever entered their tilt with Lighthouse Christian on Wednesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Chargers 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Jays have posted since April 14th.

Monett's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Clever, their win bumped their record up to 9-12.
