Baseball Recap: Sweetwater Victorious

After losing to Olympian the last time they met, Sweetwater decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Red Devils came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 4-1 on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the Red Devils' third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

The team relied heavily on Adam Gomez, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Sweetwater's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-13 when he doesn't). Del Luarca was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Sweetwater's victory bumped their record up to 11-13. As for Olympian, they dropped their record down to 15-10-1 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Sweetwater will host Otay Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Olympian, they will take on Hilltop at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Lancers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
