The Gilroy Mustangs will face off against the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gilroy is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
Gilroy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Leland on Tuesday as Gilroy made off with an 18-2 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the match before.

Stella Rhodas was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Dani Wilson and Ariela Yslava did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson fired off two home runs, five runs, and five RBI while going 4-for-4, while Yslava went 3-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. That's the most hits Wilson has posted since back in March of 2024. Christy Haro was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Gilroy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato suffered their closest defeat since March 5, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Leland by a score of 6-4. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Amber Rodriguez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits.
On the hitting side, Jordan Bouton was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Julia Carlsen, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.
Gilroy's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Ann Sobrato, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Gilroy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Ann Sobrato struggles in that department as they've averaged .395. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gilroy took their win against Ann Sobrato in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-0. Will Gilroy repeat their success, or does Ann Sobrato has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
