Preview: Hooper Academy Colts vs. Sparta Academy Warriors
Hooper Academy is 0-3 against Sparta Academy since November of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hooper Academy Colts will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sparta Academy Warriors at 6:00 p.m.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 69-38, which was the final score in Hooper Academy's tilt against Glenwood two weeks ago.
Meanwhile, Sparta Academy put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 41-32 victory over Monroe Academy. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points Sparta Academy has scored all season.
Sparta Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamie Ellissa Deason, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Johnson, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and seven steals.
Hooper Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 0-2. As for Sparta Academy, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.
Hooper Academy suffered a grim 54-29 defeat to Sparta Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2022. Thankfully for Hooper Academy, Hannah Salter (who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
