Football Preview: Leyton Warriors vs. Creek Valley Storm
The Leyton Warriors will square off against the Creek Valley Storm at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Leyton strolled past Potter-Dix with points to spare, taking the game 47-32. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.
Leyton found their leader in underclassman Colt Van Anne, who rushed for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Those 122 rushing yards set a new season-high mark for Van Anne. Austin Beutler did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 103 receiving yards.
Leyton's defense was in the mix too, especially the secondary: they snagged two passes before it was all said and done. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Alec Watchorn. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in rushing yards.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Leyton was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Creek Valley blew past Banner County, posting a 40-13 win on the road. With the Storm ahead 34-0 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Leyton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Creek Valley, their win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-2.
