Softball Recap: Ayer Shirley Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Ayer Shirley faced off against Maynard on Wednesday. The Panthers lost 25-5 to the Tigers. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Lauren Reardon was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Abbey Hoeske, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Ayer Shirley now has a losing record of 0-1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Ayer Shirley will square off against rival Tahanto Regional at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Maynard is set to take on their familiar foe West Boylston at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
