Basketball Recap: Northwood Takes a Loss

If Northwood was feeling good fresh off their 76-56 takedown of Twin Valley last Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Northwood Panthers were beaten by the Patrick Henry Rebels 82-48 on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 370th, while the Rebels are ranked 144th).

It was another big night for Cade Caywood, who went 10-for-17 on his way to 24 points along with five boards and five steals for Patrick Henry. Another player making a difference was Jeb Stewart, who went 6-for-9 en route to 16 points and three steals.

Northwood's defeat dropped their record down to 9-11. As for Patrick Henry, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season.

Northwood didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 52-42 win against Rural Retreat on the 17th. As for Patrick Henry, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Patrick Henry is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 73 points per game this season.
