Volleyball Game Preview: Classical Purple vs. Coventry Oakers

The Classical Purple are taking a road trip to square off against the Coventry Oakers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Classical will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Classical is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: Cranston West, who was ranked 18th at the time (Classical was ranked fourth). The Purple were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Falcons on Thursday.

One reason for the win was Classical's just kept getting better, winning each set by more points than the last. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-15, 25-12.

Meanwhile, Coventry came up short against North Kingstown on Wednesday and fell 3-1. The loss continues a trend for the Oakers in their meetings with the Skippers: they've now lost nine in a row.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21.

Classical pushed their record up to 13-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Coventry, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Classical skirted past Coventry 3-2 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Purple since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
