Basketball Recap: Holdrege Comes Up Short

Holdrege lost against Gothenburg back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Holdrege Dusters fell 50-41 to the Gothenburg Swedes. While losing is never fun, the Dusters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 61st, while the Swedes are ranked 16th).

This is the second loss in a row for Holdrege and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Gothenburg, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Holdrege and McCook will face off at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Gothenburg, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Amherst at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
