Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Girard walked away with it. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Perry Pirates on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Indians have won by just one run.

Camron Herrick spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up seven Ks.

At the plate, Zach Ward was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and one double. That home run was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Will Hynes, who went 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Girard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Girard and bumps their season record up to 15-12. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Perry, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-6.

Looking ahead, Girard will face off against Ursuline at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. Perry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
