Basketball Recap: Plant City Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Plant City came tearing into Wednesday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 75-61 victory over the Robinson Knights. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 149th, while the Knights are ranked 577th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Plant City was led to victory by Gavin Tinsley and Logan Teeden. Tinsley dropped a double-double on 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Teeden dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 assists. Teeden has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Laurice Hamilton, who posted seven points and 13 boards.

Plant City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Robinson's loss came despite strong showings from Jaden Behel and Zyon Floyd. Behel went 10 for 20 on his way to 27 points, while Floyd went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points in addition to eight assists and three steals. That's the most assists Floyd has posted since back in November of 2023. William Hussein was another key player, putting up 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Plant City's win was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-5. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.0 points per game. As for Robinson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Plant City will take on Alonso at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Plant City's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. Robinson has already played their next matchup (against Brandon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
