Volleyball Recap: Ava Byrd's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Chase over R-S Central + How To Watch

After flying high against Shelby on Monday, Chase came back down to earth. The Trojans came up short against the R-S Central Hilltoppers on Tuesday, falling 3-0. The Trojans have struggled against the Hilltoppers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

While Chase was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into R-S Central's winning margin in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-19, 25-20.

Chase lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Ava Byrd, who had 26 digs. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was MyleeKaye Fincher, who had eight digs and two aces.

R-S Central's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Olivia Harris led the charge by getting nine digs and four aces. That's the most digs Harris has posted over her last four matchups. Cam Johnson was another key player, getting 11 digs and three assists.
