Softball Game Preview: Sanger West Hornets vs. Justin Garza Guardians

Sanger West is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will take on the Justin Garza Guardians at 3:30 p.m. Sanger West is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.

On Wednesday, Sanger West came up short against Edison and fell 9-4. That's two games in a row now that the Hornets have lost by exactly five runs.

Meanwhile, Justin Garza fell victim to Bullard and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 18-0 to the Knights. The loss continues a trend for the Guardians in their meetings with the Knights: they've now lost five in a row.

Justin Garza saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Escobedo, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Sanger West's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11-2. As for Justin Garza, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Sanger West skirted past Justin Garza 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
