Gross Catholic owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Saturday. They came out on top against the Pius X Thunderbolts by a score of 3-0. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won seven matches in a row.

Kayo Rempe tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 6.2 innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Maddux Villamonte, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Robbie Brennan, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI.

Gross Catholic pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Pius X, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Gross Catholic is set to square off against their familiar foe Bennington at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cougars 2.6, the Badgers 2.1) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Pius X will take on rival Lincoln Northeast at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
