Basketball Recap: Harlingen Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

Harlingen lost to Harvest Christian back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. The Harlingen Cardinals walked away with a 63-55 win over Harvest Christian. Given the Cardinals' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Harvest Christian are ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Sarah Sanusi was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Lola Tamez was another key player, going 9 for 18 on her way to 19 points and five rebounds.

Harlingen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Harlingen is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.1 points per game. As for Harvest Christian, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 16-3.

Harlingen wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 58-28 victory against St. Joseph Academy on the 13th.
